How to Visualize a TV on Your Wall Before Buying
One of the biggest challenges when buying a new TV is understanding how it will actually look on your wall. A 65-inch TV sounds large in the store, but will it overwhelm your bedroom wall or look too small in your living room? Our TV on My Wall tool solves this problem by letting you upload a real photo of your space and overlay a to-scale TV rectangle.
The key to accurate visualization is the reference measurement. By clicking two points on a known object in your photo (like a standard 80-inch door frame or a 36-inch window), the tool calculates the exact pixel-to-inch ratio. This means the TV overlay you see is proportionally accurate — what you see is what you'll get.
Common reference objects include: standard interior doors (80" tall × 32-36" wide), light switch plates (mounted at 48" from floor), standard windows (varies, but measure yours), or a tape measure held against the wall. The more accurate your reference measurement, the more realistic the preview.
Wall Mounting Height Guidelines
The center of your TV screen should be at eye level when seated. For most living rooms with a standard couch, this means the center of the TV should be about 42-48 inches from the floor. For bedroom TVs viewed from bed, the center should be about 55-60 inches from the floor.
Use our tool to position the TV overlay at your planned mounting height and see if it looks balanced with your room's proportions. Remember to account for any furniture below the TV (like a media console) when deciding on height.
